High School "What really got me interested was an inspiring teacher in high school." Adolescents instinctively turn to the teacher who can open a window on tomorrow. They yearn for the mentor who will inspire courage and confidence. With more than 180 Waldorf schools in North America some 40 with their own high school the need for qualified Waldorf high school teachers has never been greater. The Center for Anthroposophy offers a graduate-level program designed for:
Unlike Waldorf elementary grade teachers, who accompany their class from year to year, Waldorf high school teachers specialize in subject areas. Among the areas of concentration offered in our program are:
A successful Waldorf high school teacher must blend a thorough background in a subject with practical teaching skills. Both are offered through our program, which combines three summer sessions with two years of independent study and research including a specialized teaching internship in a Waldorf high school. Summer sessions are held on the hilltop campuses of High Mowing and Pine Hill Waldorf Schools in scenic southeastern New Hampshire. The sessions run in parallel with the Waldorf Teacher Education Program of Antioch New England Graduate School. A new three-summers cycle begins each year. A Certificate in High School Teacher Education is awarded by the Center for Anthroposophy upon successful completion of this program.
