James Dyson
James Dyson, M.D.
Anthroposophic medicine · Psychosynthesis
Dr. Dyson trained as a medical doctor at London University, then studied anthroposophic medicine at Emerson College, Camphill Schools Aberdeen, and in hospitals in Germany. In 1979 he co-founded Park Attwood Clinic, a residential medical facility in the UK, where he practiced for twenty-five years. He has also worked as a school doctor, both in Waldorf schools and in schools and communities for adults and children with special needs.
In 2008 he completed a five-year program in Applied Psychosynthesis at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, London, and was later awarded a master’s degree in Psychosynthesis Psychology from Middlesex University.
He has lectured for decades across international anthroposophic medical and therapeutic trainings, and contributes regularly to conferences of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum. As a founding faculty member of the Association for Anthroposophic Psychology in the USA in 2014, he remains a regular contributor to their foundation programs. His current practice takes in clinical mentoring and independent consulting.
His work lies in connecting esoteric experience with cognitive understanding, particularly around psychosomatic medicine, mental health, and human relationship. Soul Size: The Eternal Psychosomatic Dilemma, published by SteinerBooks in 2022, collects his lectures, essays, and interviews on soul in relation to body and spirit.
Who this is for
The seminars are pitched at people who already work with others: therapists, doctors, teachers, counselors, and those training toward that work. No prior study of anthroposophic medicine is assumed, though the material moves quickly for anyone entirely new to anthroposophy.
The series is part of the Kairos Institute’s 2026–27 public offerings, which also include the convocation with Peter Selg in September and the Bridge Lectures with Michaela Glöckler in the new year.
