September 2020 to May 2021

Every other Friday, 7:30 – 9:15 pm EST (4:30 – 6:15 pm PST) and following Saturday 12:30 – 2:30 pm EST (9:30 – 11:30 am PST) 

Classes

Each class will begin with 30 minutes of artistic work (sessions in speech/storytelling, movement for personal hygiene, music, and pastel drawing), followed by contemplative studies on current themes using Anthroposophy as a method of inquiry. We will look at a holistic view of the human being, self-development, plus current social and pedagogical needs.  Two weekends will be devoted to each of the topics below:

September 12 and September 25-26 

Stress, Meditation, and Self-Development, with Bev Boyer/Torin Finser, speech with Debbie Spitulnik

October 9-10 and October 23-24

The Role of Parents in a Waldorf School, with Torin Finser, guest parents and teachers, eurythmy with Carla Beebe Comey

November 6-7 and November 20-21

Meeting the Social and Emotional Needs of Children Today, with Julia King and Karine Munk Finser, pastels with KMF

December 4-5 and December 18-19

Practical Thinking and the Rightful Place of Technology, with Douglas Gerwin, eurythmy with Carla Beebe Comey

January 15-16 and January 29-30

Healing the Hurt: Learning to Support Each Other as Advocates for Social Justice, with Linda Williams,  singing with Meg Chittenden

February 12-13 and February 26-27

Phenomenology: Learning to See with Beginner’s Eyes:  Study and Visual Arts, with Colleen O’Connors

March 12-13 and March 26-27

Temperaments and Learning Styles: Movement and Study, with Carla Beebe Comey

April 9-10 and April 23-24

Overview of the Waldorf Grades Curriculum: A Renewed Pedagogy for Our Time, with Alison Henry, Angela Lindstrom and Heather Scott. Speech with Debbie Spitulnik

May 14-15 and May 28-29

Innovation: Realizing Needed Personal, Organizational and Financial Changes, with Torin Finser and guest presenters, singing with Meg Chittenden

In addition to the workshops listed above, students will be offered optional additional work in the following areas:

  1. Supported by Bev, there will be ongoing work throughout the course in smaller Conversation Groups on Steiner’s Basic Exercises and other topics
  2. Speech coaching with Debbie – 4-5 people in a group
