The afternoon

Ita Wegman invited Rudolf Steiner to articulate what he later called the Renewal of the Mysteries. Out of that meeting came anthroposophical medicine, and a way of working that Kairos still draws on.

Dr. Selg has spent his career with these two figures and the archive of their collaboration. This convocation is his account of what passed between them, and of what it asks of us now.

The afternoon also opens the Kairos year, with an overview of the 2026–27 offerings.

Peter Selg, M.D.

Ita Wegman Institute · Goetheanum

Peter Selg studied medicine in Witten-Herdecke, Zurich, and Berlin, and until 2000 worked as head physician of the juvenile psychiatry department at Herdecke Hospital in Germany.

He directs the Ita Wegman Institute for Basic Research into Anthroposophy in Arlesheim, Switzerland, is professor of medicine at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, and co-leads the General Anthroposophical Section at the Goetheanum. He is the author of numerous books on Rudolf Steiner, anthroposophy, medical ethics, and the development of culture and consciousness.
