What to have on hand

If you would like to paint along, have chalk pastels (not oil pastels; Nupastels are best, or Mercurius blackboard chalk in a pinch), some mixed media paper, white or black, not too large (we work at about 12 by 9½ inches), and colored pencils for smaller diagrams.

None of it is required. You are welcome simply to watch and listen.

What we’ll cover

  • What the training asks of you. The commitments, the rhythm of the four years, and the kind of inner work the path involves.
  • Painting, clay, and drawing as therapeutic media. How each one meets a different need, and why the training moves through all three.
  • Who this work is for. The training is built for people already grounded in anthroposophy, education, or the arts. We’ll be candid about what background helps.
  • Where it leads. How graduates practice, the settings they work in, and what the qualification opens.

A training in healing through the arts

The Kairos Institute’s art therapy training is a four-year vocational path in painting, clay, and drawing. It is not a survey of art techniques. It is a training in how artistic work meets a person, and how a therapist learns to hold that meeting.

The coming cohort has limited places available, intended for people who already carry some ground beneath them: a background in anthroposophy, in education, or in the arts.

This free session is where to begin if you are considering it. Come with your questions. Karine will answer them directly, including the ones about whether the timing or the commitment is right for you.
