Arts/Art History (HS 228a)

I  Overview of Course Content and Methods:

Depending on the background and needs of the course participants, representative and relevant artistic exercises will be taken up in class. Projects may include clay modeling, wood or stone sculpture, form drawing, and/or a variety of drawing techniques using pencil, ink, or charcoal. Painting and other arts and crafts skills will be incorporated using guest faculty. We will continue to discuss the role of the teacher and best methods for success in the classroom, including the acquiring of practical-artistic skills and the all-important need for inner self-development.

II  Goals:

An in-depth, experiential understanding of the arts curriculum and how it corresponds to the child’s evolving consciousness. To inspire art that builds upon the themes of the high school years. 

III  Materials:

Materials will be provided as needed or purchased at the on-campus store.
